KODIAK, Alaska—Kodiak is moving forward with wind energy. The Kodiak Daily Mirror says the plan is to have more than 95 percent of electrical power generation from renewable sources within just a few years.
The Kodiak Electric Association is upgrading its hydroelectrical plant at Terror Lake. Company chief executive Darron Scott says the plan is to build a third turbine. Having three hydroelectric turbines would increase the capacity of the Terror Lake plant from about 22 megawatts to nearly 34 megawatts.
The project is expected to be complete by 2013.
