Moving May Cause Both Parents and Children to Worry

By Ron Leshnower

If you're planning a move in the near future and have kids, are you worried about how they'll adjust?

If you are, you're not alone.

According to a recent survey by Rent.com of 1,000 U.S. parents with children 18 or younger, more than half (54%) of parents worry about their children's fears related to the move. Additional concerns include finding the right time to move with children (31%), making sure moving day logistics go smoothly for their family (27%), and getting kids properly motivated to help with moving efforts (22%).

While parents worry, children reportedly harbor their own fears. More than half (54%) of the parents surveyed revealed that their kids worry most about making new friends at school or in their neighborhood. In addition, 18% of children wonder if they'll feel at home in their new place and 14% feel anxious about getting acclimated to their new neighborhood.

What concerns you the most as a parent about an upcoming move? Have your children expressed any fears or concerns to you about moving?
